Classics
Classic tracks through the years, timeless tracks that you can never get enough of. House and Trance.
House Classic – Marshall Jefferson – Move Your Body
Sep 29th
One of the earliest House tracks from Chicago in 1986. A true, proper, HOUSE track. Marshall Jefferson covered new ground with this track, adding a totally new sound to House music, adding a piano melody, an addictive bassline and catchy vocals.
Trance Classics – Binary Finary – 1998
Sep 21st
The late 90′s, what an era in Trance music, some of the best trance tunes ever made were around this time and Binary Finary’s 1998 was one of them. A superb, uplifting melody that builds and builds into what is just a timeless trance classic. Remixed by Gouryella, Paul Van Dyk and Matt Darey as well re-released as 1999 and 2000 but for me, nothing beats the Original.
House Classics – Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley – The Word Is Love
Sep 18th
Another Old Classic, back from the old Chicago days when House was first being born. I first heard the track when I watched the House Music Documentary on Youtube, where Steve Hurley is being interviewed and is showing some tricks he uses on the turntables. I love the bassline and the vocals, superb stuff!
Trance Classics – Nalin & Kane – Beachball
Sep 11th
The second Trance Classic in the Series. Nalin and Kane’s fantastic ‘Beachball’ track from 1997, the perfect song to listen to when relaxing at the beach.
It has that constant progressive house melodic beat, with gentle balearic sounds and superb vocals. It’s a timeless classic, it’ll be never be forgotten or ignored, even 12 years on, it still gets remixed and sampled today, but the original is the only worth listening to, ever.
Trance Classics – Energy 52 – Cafe Del Mar
Sep 6th
The first Trance track in the series of Trance Classics is Three N One’s Remix of Energy 52 – ‘Cafe Del Mar’, released in 1997. One of my favourite all-time trance tracks, that defines what trance really is.
Classic House – Jamie Principle – Your Love
Sep 4th
Another House Classic, Your Love by Jamie Principle (and Frankie Knuckles) one of the earliest House records from 1986.
I believe Jamie Principle picked up the hook at the beginning after hearing a small sample and he looped it continuously. Back in the day, “It was THE Shit” according to Derrick May – who produced “Strings of Life” – one of my favourite house piano melodies ever.
Classic House – Mr Fingers – Can You Feel It
Sep 3rd
House Music started in Chicago in the 1980′s, before I was even born, inspired by Disco music with Soul and Funk sounds. DJ’s began to use the sounds of disco to develop a new genre, using samples and using a bass beat (kick drum) to create a new sound. You really have to go back to when House was first being produced to appreciate proper 100% Classic House.
The First Classic House song I ever heard was Mr Fingers – Can You Feel It, released 22 years ago in 1987, same year I was born. I can’t imagine the amount of times this song has been sampled since then!
I believe Larry Heard aka Mr. Fingers, sampled Chuck Roberts words of “In the Beginning There Was Jack…” in his track.
These Geniuses in Chicago, developed a new genre that has inspired dance music of today.
