Afrojack feat. Eva Simons – Take Over Control
Aug 8th
I can’t say I’m a big fan of Afrojack and the rest of the Dutch House style, it’s all a bit “samey” – all tracks sound the same and they don’t seem to go anywhere. Like marmite, really, I know a lot of people love it but I’m not a big fan.
Afrojack has made a few tracks I like, “Louder than Words” was good and “Pacha on Acid” too, but other tracks in the more Dutch House style I just can’t get into. “Take Over Control” is probably his best release to date in my opinion, great vocals from Eva Simons, it has a more progressive beat to it but Afrojack can’t resist to include that Dutch sound in the background, which after some nice vocals, it kicks into a heavy electro riff – great for peak times.

Classic House – Mr Fingers – Can You Feel It
Sep 3rd
House Music started in Chicago in the 1980′s, before I was even born, inspired by Disco music with Soul and Funk sounds. DJ’s began to use the sounds of disco to develop a new genre, using samples and using a bass beat (kick drum) to create a new sound. You really have to go back to when House was first being produced to appreciate proper 100% Classic House.
The First Classic House song I ever heard was Mr Fingers – Can You Feel It, released 22 years ago in 1987, same year I was born. I can’t imagine the amount of times this song has been sampled since then!
I believe Larry Heard aka Mr. Fingers, sampled Chuck Roberts words of “In the Beginning There Was Jack…” in his track.
These Geniuses in Chicago, developed a new genre that has inspired dance music of today.

Tune of the Week – Discofamily – It Just Won’t Do
May 4th
Thought I’d have to go with a house track for this week’s Tune of the Week as they’ve all been trance so far.
I have to say I haven’t found many ‘bombs’ to download lately, mostly just half decent funky house.
Discofamily have released their own version of Tim Deluxe’s classic ‘It Just Won’t Do’, and while they’ll never beat the original, this is a decent electro version that will go down well in a club as a peak-time track.
